Gio Lo Celso scored his third goal of the season for Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night as Spurs cruised to a 3-1 win over Bulgarian side Ludogorets away from home – and West Ham star Manuel Lanzini has praised the Argentine on Instagram.
Lo Celso, 24, has been in and out of the Tottenham side this season – starting just five of his 10 league and cup appearances. He has managed just one Premier League start, coming in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in September.
The Argentina international’s fitness has been in doubt and with muscle injuries also hampering his progress, it has been a tricky start to the campaign for Lo Celso. But he started against Ludogorets on Thursday night and lasted 72 minutes.
With the scoreline reading 2-1 to Spurs, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg won the ball back and played in Son Heung-min before squaring to Lo Celso who tapped home. The former PSG and Real Betis ace posted on Instagram after the match.
Harry Kane had put Spurs ahead after scoring his 200th goal in all competitions for the club, with a well-placed header from a corner. The combination of Gareth Bale, Kane and then Lucas Moura got the second for Spurs.
While Lo Celso’s excellent performance was somewhat overshadowed by Kane’s stunning goal return, he earned praise from the man that scored a stunning equaliser against Spurs during a 3-3 draw with West Ham – Lanzini.
Lanzini’s comment to £70,000-a-week (Spotrac) Spurs star Lo Celso is translated as: “Beautiful, top scorer.”
