Joe Hart kept his first clean sheet since completing a free transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer as Spurs beat Austrian side LASK 3-0 in the Europa League group stage – and both Declan Rice and Jose Fonte reacted.
Hart, 33, has been applauded for his comments off the pitch and his efforts on it since joining Spurs on a two-year deal, after leaving Burnley. The 75-time England cap is believed to be having a positive impact in the dressing room.
There were question marks over whether the ex-Manchester City man would be second choice behind Hugo Lloris instead of Paulo Gazzaniga – and it appears that Jose Mourinho prefers him to the Argentine stopper.
Carlos Vinicius earned the plaudits on his debut for two excellent assists for Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min to score, while an own goal completed a 3-0 win. Hart, though, picked up his first clean sheet and posted on Instagram.
Spurs hardly got out of second gear throughout the match, and did not need to. There were also appearances for Gareth Bale who got an hour, Dele Alli and a late debut for young winger Jack Clarke – who should have made it four.
The north Londoners have now netted a whopping 31 goals in just 10 games this season, but it was their first clean sheet which will delight Mourinho. Hart, who played for West Ham on loan, received praise from Rice and Hart.
