West Ham should user Haller funds to sign Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard

West Ham finally moved Sebastien Haller on this week, with the big striker sealing a move to Ajax for just over £20m.

While the deal has come at a loss for the Hammers, they needed to move Haller on, despite a number of inspiring moments this season in the claret and blue.

Haller was the Hammers’ record signing when he arrived at the club but he’s had a massive struggle in general, scoring just the 14 goals in all competitions for David Moyes’ side.

Of course, attention will now turn to who the Hammers look to replace Haller with. Armed with some funds, as well as his wages off the book and the sale of Robert Snodgrass also freeing up money, the club could have a few options this month.

One such option could be Celtic striker, Odsonne Edouard, who has long been linked with a move to the Premier League. The likes of Arsenal and Aston Villa, both said to have expressed interest previously.

Big money, but maybe worth it this time

Reports previously have claimed that Celtic could demand around £40m for their striker. Furthermore, reports this week have claimed a change in agent could be laying the foundations for a potential move.

In terms of being a goalscorer, Edouard ticks all the boxes. 28 last season, five of which came in Europe, underlined his credentials as a potential superstar.

At just 22, too, time is firmly on Edouard’s side in terms of development, improving, and adapting to life in another league outside of Scotland.

West Ham are building nicely under David Moyes but they do need that focal point. Edouard, then, could be that man and given they’ve just cashed in on Haller, the time could be now for the Hammers to strike for the Celtic ace.
