West Ham should swoop with Manchester City considering selling Delph this summer

Manchester City could let England international Fabian Delph leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

They report that Pep Guardiola is planning a summer spending spree with the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Rodri on his shopping list, after winning the Premier League for a second year running on Sunday.

And that apparently means that some first-teamers could be sacrificed, with Delph, as well as Nicolas Otamendi and Elaquim Mangala named.

Delph, who Spotrac claim earns £90,000 a week at City, can play in central midfield and at left back, and there should be Premier League interest in his services if he’s on the market this summer.

And West Ham need reinforcements in the middle of the park, after the gamble on Jack Wilshere failed to pay off and the likes of Carlos Sanchez have struggled with injury also.

With Arthur Masuaku having proved substandard at left back also, it would do Manuel Pellegrini no harm at all to have another more reliable player in that role as cover.

And Pellegrini was the man who brought Delph to City in the first place, so he knows exactly what the England international – who has been more impressive than many give him credit for in a Three Lions shirt – can offer.

He may prove not quite up to Guardiola’s lofty standards but he remains a strong Premier League performer, who has had the benefit of three years working with the best manager in world football – West Ham could do worse.
