David Moyes is likely to improve West Ham defensively following his return for a second stint as manager at the London Stadium, but he could do with some improvements in his backline.
The Hammers are particular vulnerable at right-back and it’s an area the club should be looking to strengthen in the January transfer window.
They have lost first-choice Ryan Fredericks until February (official website) with a hamstring injury and that leaves 34-year-old veteran Pablo Zabaleta to play.
But both full-backs have shown real inconsistency in their games and Zabaleta is out of contract at the end of the season
West Ham should consider looking at Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne this month, as he could be an upgrade in the team.
Goal previously reported in April 2019 that West Ham were planning a move for Clyne and wanted to try land him after a successful loan spell with Bournemouth.
But the 28-year-old returned to Anfield in the summer and picked up an injury during Liverpool’s pre-season.
Sky Sports now reports that Liverpool have received enquires for Clyne and that there is a “good chance” he earns a move this month after stepping up his return from injury.

Clyne may have spent this season so far on the sidelines, but he’s edging back to a return and on his day can be a top performer in the Premier League.
He has 14 senior caps for England’s national team throughout his career so far and is too good to be a Liverpool squad player.
West Ham are crying out for a new right-back and Clyne is an attack-minded defender that could help solve the problem position for Moyes.
