West Ham should offer Odegaard opportunity to prove his ability in England

Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard has refused to rule out the prospect of leaving the Champions League holders on loan again next season, as per Voetbal International, as relayed by AS.

Odegaard is currently on loan at Vitesse in the Netherlands and would reportedly consider a return to the same country next season, with Madrid’s Champions League opponents Ajax.

He has recently shown a glimpse of his potential with a stunning long-range strike for his temporary employers but it is difficult to escape the feeling that he has stagnated since moving to the Bernabeu aged just 16 back in 2015.

Odegaard is still only 20, so he has plenty of time to show his quality, but he needs a new challenge and English football would be the perfect playground in which to test himself.

While the top six might have been on his tail before he moved to Madrid, now Odegaard would mainly be of interest further down the league.

And Manuel Pellegrini has been trying to bring a more expansive style of play to the London Stadium, for which Odegaard would be perfect.

The Hammers have never been shy about taking a gamble in the market – the short term deals for the likes of Samir Nasri and Patrice Evra shows that – and a punt on unlocking Odegaard’s talent could be a very shrewd one indeed.
