West Ham should move for Ollie Watkins as well as Said Benrahma following success of Jarrod Bowen – TBR View

West Ham are being linked with a number of players once again this summer, with Brentford ace Said Benrahma being the latest to be mentioned by The Telegraph.

That report claims that David Moyes could be set to use the funds raised from selling Grady Diangana to try and sign Benrahma, who was a key player as Brentford narrowly missed out on promotion last season.

But while Benrahma is, of course, a fantastic talent, the Hammers should really be going one better and looking to make it a double deal.

That’s because his teammate, Ollie Watkins, is also said to be available this summer after a superb 26-goal campaign last season.

And with successes in the Championship market previously and most recently with Jarrod Bowen, the Hammers shouldn’t be put off by the reported £25m fees being touted for both Watkins and Benrahma. (Sky)

Bowen is the benchmark and West Ham could have three former Championship stars leading them

Eyebrows were raised by some when West Ham shelled out on Hull City forward Bowen but as the season ticked along and especially following the return to football in Project Restart, Bowen really proved his worth.

While he only scored the one goal, he did bag four assists in 13 Premier League appearances for the Hammers, producing some exciting and scintillating displays for them. Indeed, Bowen has quickly become the player a lot of Hammers fans tune in to see.

So then, with the success of Bowen and expectations high this term, surely they shouldn’t be put off by signing Watkins and Benrahma.

Both players have enjoyed similar success to what Bowen did in the second-tier. Of course, money would need to be raised but with talk of Sebastien Haller facing an uncertain future, the Hammers could well bring that cash in.

Watkins, Benrahma, Bowen, and the ever-impressive Michail Antonio would make West Ham and attacking force to be reckoned with, meaning a £50m layout might well prove excellent value.
