West Ham need to find a long-term solution to their right-back position, as veteran defender Pablo Zabaleta is ageing and injured first teamer Ryan Fredericks has failed to make a serious impression during his time at the London Stadium.
The Hammers should consider a move for Southampton defender Cedric Soares, who could be a perfect fit for them.
According to the Sun in its print edition (11 January 2019, page 53), Everton are interested in Cedric from Premier League rivals Southampton.
It is understood that Everton are lining up a £15million bid to try land the Portugal international and it’s believed the Saints are prepared to offload him in January.
With the right-sided flyer available this month, it seems a no-brainer for West Ham to join the hunt for his signature.
Cedric is an experienced defender that has proven himself to be a decent performer in the Premier League and it’s likely he could hit the ground running with the Hammers.
He’s shown his best form on the internatonal stage with Portugal, with a European Championship medal from 2016 under his belt.
The full-back provides an attacking threat when he bombs forward and £15million could be a bargain fee if he rediscovers his best touch in a West Ham shirt.
