West Ham should consider joining race for Norwich defender Max Aarons

With West Ham currently sat 15th in the Premier League table, it wouldn’t be the worst idea for the club to try make a couple of signings in the January transfer window to improve.

Manuel Pellegrini’s team have struggled defensively so far this campaign, conceding 28 goals in their 17 league games.

The Hammers should look to improve their backline if the right opportunity comes along and the full-back areas could do with some improvements.

West Ham should consider looking at right-back Max Aarons at Premier League rivals Norwich City.

The 19-year-old is an exciting young talent that has been an ever-present in the Norwich XI this season and looks a star in the making.

He’s a little raw in places and is playing in a team that do concede plenty of goals, but is a real bright spark at Carrow Road and looks destined for big things.

Tottenham have reportedly been scouting Aarons ahead of the January window (Daily Mail), but West Ham should hijack their interest to try sign him.

Interest from Spurs highlights the potential in the Norwich speed machine and he’s the type of signing that would be ideal for West Ham, as he’s a modern full-back that is great going forward.

He could replace 34-year-old Pablo Zabaleta in the squad, while there is a strong case to suggest he would be a better option too than inconsistent first-choice right-back Ryan Fredericks.

Aarons would bring a new energy to the defence that would excite fans and it’s the type of signing that would show great ambition.

It’s unclear on how much the England Under-21 would cost, but West Ham showed in the summer they can spend big and right now they are massively underperforming.
