West Ham sending scout to watch ‘fantastic’ 24-year-old in European tie this week

West Ham United will have scouts at Brighton’s Europa League tie on Thursday night, with the Hammers planning to closely monitor one Roma star.

The Seagulls have got a huge task on their hands trying to get through. Daniele De Rossi’s side boast a 4-0 lead from the first-leg.

De Rossi has done superbly since succeeding Jose Mourinho. And one of the players who will be glad a change was made in the dug-out is Mile Svilar, the Serbia international.

West Ham monitoring Mile Svilar

Svilar has spent the majority of this season as backup to Rui Patricio for the Giallorossi. The majority of his appearances had come in the Europa League. However, he has taken the number one spot from the former Wolves star in recent weeks.

And it appears that his form has not gone unnoticed elsewhere. According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, both West Ham United and Wolves are amongst the clubs keeping an eye on Svilar.

The Premier League pair are not alone in admiring the 24-year-old. And they will both have scouts in attendance to watch Svilar against Brighton on Thursday.

Hammers need to keep one eye on the future

West Ham certainly need to have their eye on strengthening their goalkeeping options in the summer. Lukasz Fabianski has been a phenomenal servant during his time with the Hammers. But the Poland international turns 39 next month.

So it would just make sense to have an eye on someone who can compete with and push Alphonse Areola in the next few seasons.

De Rossi has been full of praise for Svilar’s ‘fantastic‘ form since coming into the side. He has also represented Belgium at several youth levels before switching his allegiance to Serbia in 2021 when he made his debut for the senior side.

A fifth clean sheet in the Europa League this season will certainly catch the eye of the West Ham scouts set to watch him on Thursday.
