Despite a real lack of natural right-backs at the club, the Hammers have been linked with few players in the position of late. The 25-year-old can also play further forward on the right or on the left side of defence and has earned praise for his strong defensive abilities whilst also offering pace on the right flank when breaking forward.

Slaven Bilic will be looking to make such a move to strengthen his squad in the summer, but the Croatian will be pleased to have received the backing of club co-owner David Gold as he wrote on the club’s official website:

“The team are now back to their best and you can see the emotion that Slaven had for the team on Saturday. He is a winner and that is why we love him. That is why the fans love him and long may it continue. I am confident about the final few months of the season. We had unbelievable injuries at the start of the season but we are through that now as we climb the table.”

Results have picked up of late with a number of injured players, like Andre Ayew and Andy Carroll, returning from long lay-offs, with the club currently away in Dubai on a mid-season training break.

Another man to have missed much of this season through injury is Diafra Sakho as the Sun report that the 27-year-old has joined the squad in Dubai and has been running in the sea as he picks up his recovery routine with the aim of returning to action in March.
