West Ham reportedly offered striker that Lampard once claimed had ‘all the attributes’

West Ham have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Roma captain Edin Dzeko this month after the striker fell out with his club’s manager Paulo Fonseca – and Frank Lampard’s comments from 2018 proves he could be ideal for the Hammers.

Dzeko, 34, was left out of Roma’s 4-3 win over Spezia in Serie A over the weekend following the bust-up with Fonseca. Corriere Dello Sport claim the two have been at odds for months, but have been working around the issue rather than sorting it out.

The former Manchester City man has been in excellent form once again for Roma this season – proving age is just a number. The £120,000-a-week (CDS) striker has scored eight goals in 20 appearances, and is just eight games shy of 250 for Roma.

But Corriere Dello Sport claim that he may have played his last game for the club, with an Italian agent offering Dzeko to West Ham – as the Hammers look for a replacement for Seb Haller. Lampard’s previous comments will excite Hammers fans.

“Dzeko is something different. He is a very good player, an all-round striker with all the attributes,” Lampard told the Evening Standard back in 2018, before the recently-sacked Chelsea boss had entered the world of management.

TBR’s view – Lampard’s verdict is proof that Dzeko is ideal

West Ham have formed a way of playing around the physicality and speed of Michail Antonio. His speed, his strength, his goals and his all-round play is conducive to the way David Moyes has got his West Ham side playing of late.

That means the Hammers need someone similar and while Dzeko might not have the speed he once did, he still has the goals, the strength and the aerial prowess that Antonio does. Lampard’s comments are exactly why West Ham should sign Dzeko.
