West Ham reportedly battling Tottenham to sign Brazilian striker Willian Jose

West Ham have joined the hunt to sign Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, according to a report by Spanish outlet AS.

Tottenham have been linked with the Brazilian hitman all through January but they report that negotiations have cooled between club and player.

That apparently gives David Moyes room to swoop, although West Ham’s proposed idea of a loan with an option to buy doesn’t appear to be one Socieded are too keen on.

The Hammers were keen on Willian Jose in 2017, under Slaven Bilic, when Calcio Mercato reported they wanted the striker and now it looks as if they’ve rekindled their interest.

TBR’s View – Report suggests neither club has made a satisfactory bid

The report says that West Ham would need to change the structure of their bid if they are to sign the man they had in their sights in 2017.

But it also claims that Tottenham do not have enough money available right now to sign Willian Jose, having paid out for Giovani Lo Celso and Steven Bergwijn and Christian Eriksen’s contract situation restricting how much they could recoup for him.

Both London rivals are in dire need of striking backup this month – there’s too much reliance on Harry Kane and Sebastien Haller – and it remains to be seen if either will realise that and come up with a suitable deal for Jose.
