West Ham predicted lineup: Nikola Vlasic to come in as only change
West Ham face Southampton on Saturday as they make a return to Premier League action.
The Irons’ start to the season has been sublime, with seven points taken from a possible nine.
In those opening three games, David Moyes has named the same starting eleven three times.
It’s hard to argue why changes should be made as you can’t fix what’s not broken.
However, the Hammers will be keen to avoid losing their rhythm after the international break so changes might be necessary.
The only switch that we’re expecting Moyes to make is in the attacking line.
So far at the London Stadium an attacking trio of Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen have lined up behind Michail Antonio.
The change that we’re expecting to see is new signing Nikola Vlasic coming into the fold.
The new signing, a £26.8m man (BBC), will provide some extra zip to Moyes’ front line and we expect him to come into the side in place of Bowen.
The beauty of the West Ham front line is that the three behind Antonio can lineup anywhere from left to right.
For Southampton on Saturday we’re expecting to see Fornals on the left, Vlasic through the middle and Benrahma on the right.
If results go their way the Hammers could even end the weekend at the top of the Premier League, so getting the team right is important.
As far as the midfield pivot and defence is concerned we’re not expecting any changes.
New signings Alex Kral and Kurt Zouma will be integrated eventually.
For now, though, we expect Moyes to go with what has worked so far to avoid throwing in too many unnecessary changes.
