West Ham predicted lineup: Four new signings to start; Antonio keeps his place
West Ham face Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday evening, with a much chnged side expected to feature.
David Moyes’ side are unbeaten in the Premier League after four games this season.
West Ham’s Europa League campaign kicks off tonight, though.
As well as Dinamo Zagreb the Irons will also face Rapid Wien and Genk.
It’s a group that West Ham fans will fancy themselves in.
It’s also a chance for Moyes to throw some of his new signings a full debut.
In goal we expect loanee Alphonse Areola to make his debut for the club in place of Lukasz Fabianski.
Then in defence, Kurt Zouma should come in for his first start after his £29.8m move (BBC).
We have the Frenchman coming in for Craig Dawson and starting alongside Angelo Ogbonna.
In midfield, we’re expecting to see Tomas Soucek get a rest, with new man Alex Kral to come in and partner Declan Rice in a pivot.
The front four is where it gets interesting.
In the three attacking midfielders behind the striker we’re expecting to see Nikola Vlasic finally get his full debut.
The Croatian had a cameo off the bench against Southampton on the weekend.
Yet this is a chance for a full 90 minutes.
Alongside Vlasic, Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen should take their places in the three, giving Pablo Fornals a rest ahead of the weekend.
That just leaves one place left to fill and Michail Antonio would be the man up front.
The 31-year-old is suspended for the weekend after his red card against Southampton, so making the most of him in this game makes sense.
On the weekend West Ham are hosting Manchester United, so avoiding injuries on Thursday night will be key.
In an ideal world the Irons come away from both games with three points.
If Moyes gets the best out of his changed side and avoids any injuries then it’s certainly possible.
