Dimitri Payet appears to have opened the door to a potential move to Arsenal as he hinted that he would be happy to make the move as he said:
“I am not closing the door to anything. I read that Wenger considers me the missing piece of Arsenal’s game, but he’s never told me that. We conceded five or six at home against them. When you see them playing, as a technical player, you could only have fun in that team. They’re candidates for the title every year.”
However, he also added that he would not rule out a return to former club Marseille when speaking to French outlet RMC Sport as he revealed:
“Marseille have a new project which seems interesting. Aside from that, we are obviously waiting to see the first few things that the new owners do, but Marseille knows how attached I am to the club. When I talk about it, I say the best possible things, because that is what I think, so why not.”
With the Hammers seemingly embroiled in a relegation scrap, it seems unlikely that fans will take too kindly to such pleas to seemingly find him a move away from the London Stadium despite his superb performances since joining last summer.
Defender Angelo Ogbonna has also spoken to explain the happiness of the team at turning their form around by following up a draw at Anfield with two consecutive home wins as he said:
“We are so happy to get seven points and we should not forget the point we got at Anfield last week which was really important. We have to keep going and stay concentrated. We didn’t play well against Hull but the most important thing is the three points and hopefully we will play better in the next game… We are staying positive because we got three points and it is so important for everyone. The fans stayed behind us and this is football. I don’t know how much this will turn our season around. I want to stay focused on the present because sometimes our mistake was sometimes setting our expectations too high and we have to stay focused on the next game.”
Midway through a run of four crucial fixtures, Ogbonna and the team must continue their improved form if they are to carry on climbing up the table.
