West Ham now willing to sell player who has won Hammer of the Year award

West Ham United have enjoyed a very fruitful summer on the transfer front, with eight new signings over the line.

The Hammers hit the ground running in the window as they wrapped up the signings of Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman early on.

Then, early in August, West Ham completed three more signings in Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez.

The Hammers have since signed two more players, landing Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice and Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United.

There’s a good chance West Ham could now look to move some more players on in the last two weeks of the transfer window.

And according to GiveMeSport, the Hammers are willing to cash in on one of their key players from the last few years if he decides he wants out this summer.

West Ham willing to sell Tomas Soucek

The player in question is Tomas Soucek, one of West Ham’s most important stars over the past few years.

The 29-year-old has made 207 competitive appearances for the east Londoners since his move in 2020.

Indeed, Soucek even has a Hammer of the Year award to his name, winning the prize in 2021 (West Ham official website).

However, GiveMeSport have reported that Soucek may now have limited opportunities in wake of West Ham’s signing spree.

The arrival of Guido Rodriguez has left Soucek in danger of falling down the pecking order at the London Stadium.

GiveMeSport say there is uncertainty over whether he is keen on potentially spending prolonged periods on the bench after being a key part of David Moyes’ plans.

Indeed, there is a ‘serious possibility’ of Soucek seeking a fresh challenge if he insists he’s unhappy with not being a regular starter, added the report.

And West Ham are apparently willing to cash in on the Czech Republic international if he wants to leave.

New few weeks crucial for Soucek

It would be a shame to see Soucek leave West Ham this summer after all he has done for the club.

However, with the Hammers not in Europe this season, any fringe players will be more strapped for game time than in previous seasons.

Likewise, Soucek may not be willing to accept going from an indispensable player and regular starter to a bench-warmer in one fell swoop.

With that in mind, the new few weeks will shed more light on Soucek’s future. If he barely features once the season starts, he may well make his mind up quickly.

It cannot be denied, however, that West Ham’s transfer free has been impressive, and sadly this kind of thing can happen.

Indeed, a Premier League pundit has even claimed that the Hammers have made the most exciting signing of the summer so far.
