Mark Noble and West Ham United recently confirmed that the midfielder would be leaving the club at the end of the 2021-22 season and a long-term replacement is required for such a player – and Arsenal are ready to cash in on the ideal player.
Noble, 33, is out of contract in just over a year’s time and even with the uncapped Englishman and West Ham legend in the side, the Hammers still need more cover in the middle of the park. That is, especially with European qualification on the horizon.
The Hammers have a thin squad that boasts just Tomas Soucek, Declan Rice and Noble as proper central midfield options – with Manue Lanzini and Pablo Fornals preferred more in attack, or out wide. A central midfielder is required.
Arsenal are reportedly willing to ‘listen to offers’ for the perfect candidate. Lucas Torreira is currently out on loan at Atletico Madrid but seemingly has little future at Arsenal – with ESPN claiming they will accept offers of £15million for the Uruguayan.
He has struggled to get regular game time at Atletico this season – starting just five of his 22 games in all competitions. But there was a reason he played 89 times for Arsenal in his first two seasons at the club and West Ham have got to take advantage.
Tenacious, aggressive and even able to chip in the odd goal – he is much like Noble, but with more speed. Perhaps not as efficient from the penalty spot, Torreira at £15million is still an incredible bargain. West Ham have got to consider the Arsenal ace.
