West Ham must revive Che Adams interest before Southampton get their first

Following humiliation in the FA Cup to AFC Wimbledon, West Ham will need to bounce back urgently and could look to the transfer market to strengthen their squad in the process with one man a potential candidate: Che Adams.

The Sun on Sunday (27/1; page 63) report that Birmingham are expecting a bid from Premier League outfit Southampton for the 22-year-old centre forward, whilst West Ham were linked by the Mirror in 2017.

With 14 goals in 28 games in the Championship for the the midtable team, he could provide a real boost to a front line which is lacking goals if the Hammers move quickly enough.

Having already played at the London Stadium this season in the FA Cup, Adams has undoubtedly shown that he could make the step up and it is not a surprise to see Premier League clubs linked to the former Sheffield United man.

Whilst West Ham made a similar gamble on Jordan Hugill last season, Adams seems far more adept to transitioning to life in the Premier League and his pace would offer an aspect sorely lacking in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad options.

The Irons cannot afford to slack off having temporarily secured Marko Arnautovic’s future and must now look to give him quality company in attack as Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez continue to misfire.
