Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the signature of Celta Vigo attacker Maxi Gomez. According to El Pais, Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund are both keen.
The Uruguayan has scored six goals in 10 La Liga appearances this season and is rightly catching the eye of potential suitors. His performances, along with his nationality, have even seen him compared to a certain Luis Suarez.
‘El Toro’ is certainly the sort of player that could suit English football. In fact, West Ham United thought just that in the summer.
As reported by the London Evening Standard, West Ham made a £27 million bid for the player in the summer. It was rejected, with Celta Vigo said to be holding out for £35 million, still some way short of his £44.8 million release clause.
That proved to be a little too rich for West Ham’s taste, considering the amount they invested in the club this summer.
But with their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur now putting Gomez in their crosshairs West Ham should seriously consider returning for the player in January.

The club has lost one of their big recruits to injury with Andriy Yarmolenko’s Achilles problem so the fans deserve another big boost.
Marko Arnautovic is still being asked to do too much and Gomez could be an inspired signing. Dare to whisper it, but he has an aura of Carlos Tevez about him with his boisterous style of play that would immediately push him toward cult status at West Ham.
If West Ham can shift the likes of big earners Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll first, then affording Gomez will surely be no trouble if the £35 million asking price remains the same.
The added satisfaction of getting one over Tottenham would only make any deal sweeter.
