The Daily Mail report that the Hammers have made preliminary enquiries over four different players struggling for first team football as Slaven Bilic targets goalkeeper Asmir Begovic, Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas, summer target Michy Batshuayi and youngster Reuben Loftus-Cheek.
It would be an ambitious move if the club could bring any of the four in, with any moves likely to be loan moves in January ahead of potential permanent switches in the summer. Bilic is keen to add quality and most would do that, with all four reportedly considering their options after struggling for game time despite their quality being clear for all to see.
However, they may be concerned by news that Slaven Bilic has cancelled the Christmas party which was planned for this week, as he revealed to the press as he said:
“I told my staff no Christmas party. We have a Christmas party in January or February. Let’s do the business, because I want to enjoy that night out. Now we can enjoy it more than a week ago, but I would like to properly enjoy it this year and I can’t.”
The Irons have seen their form pick up of late but were far from convincing in victories over Burnley and Hull in their last two outings, with improvements needed to continue their unbeaten run.
One improvement could be incoming in the form of a striker as La Nazione claim that the club are considering a move for Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar as Crystal Palace also target the 23-year-old. The Senegal international has been told to find a new club in January, which may speed up a potential deal.
However, West Ham face tough competition for his services and even if successful, Babacar is expected to be selected for the African Cup of Nations at the end of January and much of February.
