This summer saw West Ham United allow youngster Jahmal Hector-Ingram leave the club at the end of his contract. Despite the club reportedly offering him a new deal, as reported by Claret and Hugh, the striker had decided it was time to move on.

He subsequently went on trial at Derby County and impressed so much he earned himself a full-time contract with the club.

Judging by his early form at the Championship side, West Ham might be wishing they had convinced him to stay,

Last night, he scored twice for the under-23s in a 7-1 romp against Leeds United, topping off a sensational run of recent form.

Hector-Ingram has scored five goals in nine games for Derby’s youngsters in PL2 and was named the competition’s player of the month for October.

With Derby not exactly firing on all cylinders in the Championship so far this season, there is no doubt Hector-Ingram will be a name growing increasingly familiar to first-team boss Philipp Cocu.

West Ham United might end up regretting not giving this young talent more of a view to the future if he continues on his current trajectory.
