Robert Snodgrass is reportedly close to leaving West Ham United and joining Sam Allardyce’s West Bromwich Albion on a permanent basis – and the Scottish midfielder has hinted at an exit on Twitter.
Snodgrass, 33, has entered the last six months of his contract at West Ham and was expected to become a free agent in the summer. He has spent four years with the Hammers, but has only managed 85 appearances.
Indeed, the former Leeds and Hull man has found it difficult to get game time in periods – even joining Aston Villa on loan for the 2017-18 season in which he had a hand in 21 goals during 40 Championship appearances.
The Mail claim West Brom are in talks to sign the £10million (Sun) player for what is likely to be a cut-price figure given his contract situation. Snodgrass hinted at an exit, replying to a fan’s video with a nine-word Tweet.
TBR’s view – A good move for all parties
West Ham are likely to get a small fee for a player they expected to leave for nothing in the summer, while Snodgrass gets the chance to play regular Premier League football for at least half a season.
For West Brom, they are adding a player with Premier League experience and one that has got better with age. Snodgrass gives the Baggies set-piece ability and the kind of player who is excellent for the dressing room.
A move that suits all.
