West Ham loanee Jordan Hugill comments on David Moyes and future hopes

David Moyes was the man who brought Jordan Hugill to West Ham in 2018 and the striker has praised the club’s decision to re-appoint him.

Speaking to TalkSport, Hugill, 27, was full of praise for Moyes and spoke about his hopes for next season once his loan spell at Queens Park Rangers comes to an end.

He said of Moyes: “He’s brilliant. I owe him a lot to give me that break. Hopefully I can do well here (QPR) then maybe at the end of the season prove him right to bring me in.

“Who’s to say I can’t go back to West Ham with 20 goals and getting QPR promoted? The talent that they (West Ham) have in the squad is amazing and to bring David Moyes and Alan Irvine back to the club is brilliant.”

TBR’s View – Is Hugill a better option than Ajeti?

Hugill and Albian Ajeti are two recent striking purchases who indicate why a Hammers striker hasn’t scored 20 goals in a season since Teddy Sheringham in the Championship in 2004/05.

The Hammers badly need backup for Sebastien Haller who is capable of netting goals and perhaps Hugill getting form and confidence back in the Championship could put him on path to do that next season if reunited with Moyes.

Perhaps more likely is that Hugill is back at his level in the Championship. There won’t be too many West Ham fans believing Hugill is the striker they need to ensure next season is better than this.
