West Ham linked Morgan Sanson puts final nail in transfer rumours

West Ham United were heavily linked with a move for Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson this summer.

Sky Sports reported in June that the Hammers were in talks over a move for the Marseille midfielder. The initial report stated that Marseille valued the player at €35 million (£31.3 million).

At the end of June, L’Equipe reported that Marseille were desperate to offload the player to West Ham in order to balance their Financial Fair Play issues.

However, the report also suggested West Ham had moved on from Sanson after securing a deal for Villarreal midfielder Pablo Fornals.

The Marseille man has now been discussing his plans for the upcoming season and it appears he has no desire to move on from Marseille this summer. Speaking to RMC Sport, he also discussed the rumours linking him with a move away and his excitement at working with Andre Villas-Boas.

“OM? I’ll be there. I want to stay there. I have a new coach, who has a good footballing philosophy. I like it and I want to continue with him.

“Rumours? The most important thing is to get ready and be there on D-Day, when you get back.”

West Ham sold Pedro Obiang to Sassuolo yesterday and there is now perhaps a gap in the West Ham midfield for the recruitment of Sanson.

However, it seems unlikely West Ham are going to spend big money on the player now and the 24-year-old is clearly happy to stay just where he is.

With these comments from the player, West Ham fans can probably put any potential intrigue in Sanson heading to London to bed. A deal will clearly not be happening.
