West Ham keen on summer swoop for Ceballos as Pellegrini continues squad overhaul

West Ham United are keen on a summer swoop for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to the Daily Mirror.

They report that Manuel Pellegrini was keen on a move for the six-cap Spanish international in January and is ready to go again in the forthcoming transfer window as he looks to add greater quality to his central midfield options.

Ceballos is reportedly available for £18m, as Real Madrid look to embark on a squad overhaul themselves, which represents decent value for a player with vast potential.

And the report claims that West Ham are not planning on stumping up loads of cash to improve their own squad and will be looking to raise it with player exits. Pedro Obiang, Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez are named as the three players Pellegrini is prepared to lose with that in mind.

Ceballos is exactly the kind of young, technical midfield maestro that West Ham should be targeting if they want to continue their progression under Pellegrini.

They took the risk on Jack Wilshere and so far it hasn’t paid off – but at least it was on a free – but Ceballos is an upgrade on the likes of Carlos Sanchez.

Alongside Declan Rice, the pair would be an exciting, youthful duo who could provide the springboard for a vibrant Hammers side to play their flowing football on a more consistent basis.
