West Ham United have reportedly made contact with Serie A side Spezia regarding their striker M’Bala Nzola.
Il Corriere dello Sport claim the Hammers are on the tail of the 24-year-old, who has made a big impression over in the Italian top-flight this term.
A straightforward move by the Irons in January is unlikely though, with Spezia hoping to tie the player down to a new contract.

His current deal actually expires in the summer of 2023, but Spezia are keen to extend that to put themselves in a stronger position.
So far this season, Nzola has bagged seven goals in 10 games, and his early form has alerted several sides.
West Ham are in need of attacking reinforcements at the moment, with David Moyes only having Sebastien Haller and Michail Antonio as his forward options.
Not only is Antonio not an out-and-out centre-forward, his injury record is also not too encouraging and so Moyes could do with bringing someone else in next month.
TBR’s View – A gamble for West Ham
West Ham need to add a new striker, but Zola would be a bit of a risk.

He’s also only just joined Spezia and it would be a real surprise to see him depart so soon.
The Hammers need to make sure they get their recruitment right, and they also need to make sure they aren’t chasing lost causes.
