West Ham are in talks to sign Carlos Soler from PSG – but the Hammers have also moved to offer another player a contract in the meantime.

In case you missed it, West Ham are close to reaching an agreement with Soler – according to Duncan Castles – as Julen Lopetegui aims to bring his fellow Spaniard to the London Stadium.

As those discussions continue, West Ham have now made an offer to bring another player to east London…

West Ham offer Lucas Ocampos a contract

A story from German Garcia Grova of TyC Sports now states that West Ham have offered Lucas Ocampos a contract.

The Argentina international is currently considering his future after entering the final 11 months of his contract with Sevilla – with an offer from Monterrey also on the table.

Grova states that Ocampos is examining the proposal from West Ham, but in the meantime, Monterrey are confident about striking an agreement with the South American.

The Argentine – who Sevilla signed from Marseille in a €15m (£12.6m) deal back in July 2019 – scored five goals and provided four assists in 45 appearances last season, playing in nine different positions.

Ocampos – who Lionel Messi has previously called an “extraordinary” footballer – primarily played on the wings and also as a striker, but he even made appearances on the left and right of defence for Sevilla.

Grova adds that West Ham are still in negotiations with Sevilla over a fee for the 30-year-old, but have put a contract offer on the table for the man from Quilmes to mull over in the meantime.

For what it’s worth, Fabrizio Romano has since claimed that West Ham are not trying to sign Ocampos, but seeing as TyC Sports were the outlet who suddenly revealed that Guido Rodriguez would be moving to east London, this situation is worth keeping an eye on.

Long-term target

Interestingly, West Ham have tracked Ocampos for years.

A story from Super Deporte claimed that West Ham tried to sign the Argentina international back in April 2022 – fighting against Wolves to secure his signature – although the winger eventually moved to Ajax on loan.

Now – however – West Ham could finally get their man.
