West Ham fans want Javier Hernandez sold as he confirms plans to leave

Javier Hernandez has confirmed he’s looking into the option to leave West Ham this summer – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have responded by claiming they hope his exit goes through.

The 31-year-old cost the Hammers £16million (official website) back in 2017 and he’s had a mixed spell at the London Stadium so far.

He’s scored just 16 goals in 61 games for West Ham and been unable to reach the heights he previously did with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid earlier in his career.

The Mexico international is a clinical finisher that is lethal around the penalty area, but scored just eight times across all competitions last season for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

The centre-forward is about to enter the final year of his contract, but has revealed he’s looking into leaving and West Ham are open to selling him.

“The team is working with us. [My agent] is the one more involved. He is Spanish so has more connections here,” Hernandez said on Youtube.

“He’s searching for a club, if we can move. If not I will stay with West Ham easy, happy. I have one year left, but West Ham and I have decided it would just be easier to go out.”

Hernandez hasn’t quite managed to hit the ground running during his two years with West Ham and shown flashes of brilliance, rather than a consistent run in the XI.

He needs a certain system to be deadly in attack and hasn’t quite found the right combination in attack.

West Ham teammate Marko Arnautovic is a much stronger option leading the line by himself and has a physical presence.

A selection of Hammers fans have reacted to Hernandez’s comments by saying they wouldn’t mind him leaving.
