West Ham United have reportedly added Borussia Monchengladbach’s in-form striker Alassane Plea to their shortlist after he starred on the Champions League scene – and Hammers fans have responded on Twitter.

Plea, a one-time France international, has starred in the Champions League – scoring five goals in six group games. Overall, he has had a hand in 12 goals during 18 league and cup appearances for the Bundesliga side.

The 27-year-old’s form has alerted West Ham, who are keen to sign a striker before the end of the January window having allowed Sebastian Haller to leave the club and join Dutch side Ajax for a fee in the region of £20million.

The Mirror state that West Ham have added Plea to their shortlist – a player that can play on either flank or even in the number 10 role. It remains to be seen how much Gladbach would want for the French ace.

Michail Antonio is likely to remain first choice at West Ham as he fits their identity under David Moyes to a tee. But they certainly need cover, with Mipo Odubeko’s debut against Stockport County highlighting Antonio’s lack of cover.

West Ham supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that the Hammers are considering an offer for the ex-Nice ace. Many think he would be a good addition to the West Ham side.
