West Ham fans on Twitter: Discussing the 3-2 loss, Hernandez's performance, Arnautovic's red card

A last-gasp winner from Southampton’s Charlie Austin changed the mood of West Ham fans dramatically on Saturday. After seeing their side battle back from 2-0 down, the Hammers suffered a killer blow late on, in an eventual 3-2 defeat.

Slaven Bilic’s men, who were on the end of a humiliating defeat to Manchester United last week, look set to take a credible point away at Southampton but for a clumsy challenge from Pablo Zabaleta that led to a penalty kick.

The South Coast side took the lead early on through Manolo Gabbiandini and Dusan Tadic doubled the Saints’ advantage in the 38th minute from the penalty spot.

The Serbian’s spot kick came five minutes after a horrendous elbow from Marco Arnautovic, which earned the former Stoke City man a straight red card. Bilic didn’t even acknowledge the winger as he went down the tunnel.

The Hammers fought back valiantly with ten men and they were level through two Javier Hernandez goals in the second-half.

The Mexico international’s display got people talking on social media and it looked as though his goals would’ve earned West Ham a point.

However, Pablo Zabaleta bundled into Maya Yoshida in the box and Charlie Austin converted the resulting penalty.

It was a killer blow for Bilic and his men and Twitter was buzzing with comments on key aspects of the game. From the final result to Arnautovic’s red card, here is what West Ham fans had to say:
