West Ham fans slam ‘pathetic’ Andy Carroll after Brighton draw

Andy Carroll earned his first start of the season on Wednesday night – and some West Ham fans on Twitter destroyed him for the quality of his performance.

The 29-year-old centre-forward had a quiet first-half in attack, before he was taken off by manager Manuel Pellegrini at half-time with the scoreline goalless.

Visitors Brighton then took a two-goal lead at the London Stadium, as Dale Stephens and Shane Duffy scored.

But the Hammers fought back shortly after with a quick-fire brace from Austrian Marko Arnautovic and earned a point in the Premier League fixture.

A selection of West Ham fans on social media vented their frustration towards Carroll following his return to the side.

The English striker was unable to make an impact in the final third and didn’t touch the ball in the opposition’s box.

He’s had numerous problems with injuries throughout his career and his physical and direct approach doesn’t seem to fit the Pellegrini stye.

Carroll is facing stiff competition for the main striker role at the London Stadium, where the likes of  Javier Hernandez, Lucas Perez and Arnautovic are also in contention.

Here are some West Ham fans on Twitter ripping into Carroll:
