A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to express their disbelief after Manuel Lanzini missed out on Goal of the Year at the latest London Football Awards, with Spurs star Erik Lamela taking the prize.

Lamela scored an outrageous goal in March’s North London derby against Arsenal. Unfortunately, it proved to be a mixed afternoon for the Argentinian.

Tottenham went on to lose the game and Lamela was sent off for two yellow cards in quick succession in the second-half.

But despite that, Lamela’s Rabona goal stole many of the headlines. And he has now been rewarded with the Goal of the Year honour.

However, that decision has not gone down well with some of the West Ham supporters on social media.

One of those strikes that missed out was Lanzini’s stunning equaliser at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium much earlier in the campaign.

It was an incredible volley from the edge of the box that completed David Moyes’s men’s comeback after heading into the latter stages of the contest 3-0 down.

And plenty of Irons supporters feel that Lanzini’s strike was lot more deserving of the award.

It is no surprise that the decision has divided plenty of supporters. Both are ridiculous goals and arguably well clear of the other contenders.

Lamela had the audacity to produce such a controlled finish in the derby. Lanzini meanwhile, could not have put the ball anywhere else in that top corner without the ball hitting the woodwork and bouncing clear or Hugo Lloris getting across to it.

With that in mind, here is how some of the West Ham fans have reacted to the award going to Lamela…
