West Ham fans react to reports of interest in James Tavernier

West Ham United are reportedly interested in singing James Tavernier before the transfer window closes on October 5.

TEAMtalk have claimed the Londoners are on the lookout for defensive reinformcents, and Tavernier has supposedly emerged as an option.

David Moyes has gone on record as wanting a central defender with experience, but it is also understood he wants another right-back.

There is even more of a pressing need for a right-sided defender now, with Ryan Fredericks suffering a ‘low-grade’ muscle injury to his hamstring against Wolves on Sunday.

The Englishman has already begun a programme of rehabilitation and the club hope to see him back after the October international breaking according to their website.

Tavernier is Rangers’ captain and set-piece specialist, meaning Steven Gerrard is likely to make things very difficult for West Ham if they come knocking.

The star is hugely important for the Light Blues, and it may well be a non-starter for the Hammers.
