West Ham are being linked with a move for RB Leipzig attacker Hwang Hee-Chan this month – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have responded with real excitement to the speculation.

According to Sky Sports, the Hammers are in discussions with German top-flight side Leipzig about bringing the 25-year-old to the Premier League.

The report explains that talks are already underway, but West Ham manager David Moyes will ultimately make a final decision over a possible purchase.

Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann has since added though that the player is looking to leave on loan, but explained his exit won’t be sanctioned unless the club sign two strikers first.

“Hwang is trying to go on a loan deal. He wants to play more. I had a conversation with him yesterday. I agree with his opinion. But if we don’t get two more strikers, which I don’t expect, it doesn’t make sense from his point of view for us to give him up,” Nagelsmann said.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media have suggested that the Leipzig player could be a good addition at the London Stadium if they end up signing him.

Hwang has had a difficult time at Bundesliga team Leipzig since he joined in 2020 and has scored just once in nine games across all competitions.

But the South Korea international showed his quality as a forward at former club Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored 45 goals and supplied 29 in 126 club appearances.
