West Ham are being linked with defender Takehiro Tomiyasu from Serie A club Bologna – and some of the fans on Twitter seem excited about the prospect of him playing at the London Stadium.

According to the Evening Standard, the Hammers are looking at potential targets in the full-back areas and have been drawn towards the Italian top-flight.

It is understood that West Ham and Premier League rivals Newcastle United are both keen on Tomiyasu, who has just enjoyed an impressive first season playing European football.

The report explains that Grady Diangana could be sold to West Brom for £18million, which would leave West Ham manager David Moyes with the chance to chase potential targets this summer.

Tomiyasu is a versatile defender that is primarily a right-back, but he’s got the qualities to slot into the centre-back position and has also been used in midfield at times in the past.

The 21-year-old is a rising star that settled quickly in Italy following his move last summer and he’s already earned 18 senior international caps for his country Japan.
