West Ham are reportedly interested in Brentford attacker Ollie Watkins – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are excited by the speculation.

The Sun is reporting that West Ham were keen on signing the Championship centre-forward in January, but Brentford were not prepared to part ways with a player spearheading their promotion bid.

It is explained that the Hammers could reignite interest in the 24-year-old this summer and their boss David Moyes is keen to bring in more players from the Championship, with Jarrod Bowen joining from Hull City in the New Year.

The report states that the Premier League outfit could make a bid for him at the end of the season.

Watkins originally made a name for himself as a winger at Brentford, but has been moved into a more central role this season and is reaping the rewards.

The Englishman has netted 22 times in just 36 games across all competitions and is a skilful striker with pace and power.

Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic is the only player in the Championship to score more goals than him and he does deserve a first chance in the Premier League.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media have given a big thumbs up to the Watkins rumours and want to see him at the club next season.

Sebastien Haller and Michail Antonio provide the main attacking threat in the current Hammers side that is fighting against relegation, but they could definitely do with more ammunition next season when they will hope to still be in the top tier.
