West Ham fans react to performance of Issa Diop in win over Tottenham

West Ham compounded the misery on London rivals Tottenham in a hotly-contested derby-day clash at the London Stadium.

Michail Antonio fired the Hammers into a lead after just five minutes, with Jesse Lingard doubling the advantage just after half-time.

One man who impressed the West Ham faithful was centre-back Issa Diop.

The 24-year-old was out of favour earlier in the campaign but has returned with a vengeance to David Moyes’ team.

He starred in the win over Sheffield United last week and was once again colossal this afternoon.

Diop has been at West Ham since 2018 when he signed from Toulouse. He has featured 82 times for the Hammers.

He has been a decent player for the club over the years and did get admiring glances from bigger clubs in the past.

On this showing, however, the Hammers will quickly see him as an integral player due to his solid defending.

Diop earns £67,000-a-week at the London Stadium and after today’s game supporters have raved about his performance.
