West Ham’s Under 23 side drew 2-2 with fellow London club Brentford’s B team last night, with Nathan Holland equalising late on with a late wonder strike.
With the first team having just one point to show for their start to the season – which they were somewhat lucky to get from an abject performance against Brighton on Saturday – some fans want to see Holland given a chance in the first team.
The Hammers have a proud history of promoting their young talent – with Declan Rice being the latest – and some supporters want to see Holland become the next cab off the rank.
Manuel Pellegrini invested again during the summer but there’s still a place for young talent, which is impressing in the development ranks and the Chilean has kept that pathway open.

Grady Diangana made his first team breakthrough last season – underlining Manuel Pellegrini’s faith in youth – but is now at West Brom on loan, which perhaps clears some room for another youngster to come through.
Whether Holland gets a chance among West Ham’s expensively-assembled ranks remains to be seen but the supporters would like to see it based on the evidence on Twitter after his goal last night.
