West Ham fans react to Nathan Holland performance

Nathan Holland made just his second ever senior West Ham appearance on Wednesday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter praised him for his performance.

It was a miserable night for the Hammers, as they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup in the third round by League One opponents Oxford United.

Hosts Oxford scored four unanswered goals in the second-half to seal their progress to the next round and cause a major upset.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini made wholesale changes to his team and his new-look side were unable to deliver in the cup.

Holland has started the season on fire for the club’s Under-23s side and he was rewarded with a call-up to the senior team.

The 21-year-old is an exciting winger with bags of pace and trickery, while he’s proven at youth level he’s a goal threat too.

He started out wide against Oxford and lasted 57 minutes before he was substituted off for Sebastien Haller.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media picked out Holland as one of the rare decent performer from the cup exit.

He had an effort decided early on by a good save from the Oxford goalkeeper and looked to be positive whenever in possession.

The dazzling wide man will surely get more opportunities around the first-team if he keeps working hard and impressing.
