West Ham fans react to Jannik Vestergaard reports

A number of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Telegraph on Thursday claiming that the Hammers want Jannik Vestergaard.

The Irons are continuing their search for a new defender. Kurt Zouma has reportedly rejected the chance to move to the London Stadium.

And it appears that they could make a move for Vestergaard. The Telegraph notes that his contract with Southampton expires next year.

Of course, the Saints have already sold one key player this summer. Danny Ings shocked everyone by joining Aston Villa on Wednesday.

So it is hard to imagine Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side making it easy for any admirers to lure another senior member of the squad away.

And some West Ham fans would clearly be extremely relieved if a move did not take place. The reaction on social media seems to be incredibly divided.

Some supporters are adamant that he would be a poor signing. The Dane – who earns £60,000-a-week – has not always looked the most convincing defender during his time on the south coast.

But others are much happier with the links. Vestergaard has improved considerably over the last couple of years.

And given his contract situation, perhaps there may be scope for a shrewd piece of business.
