West Ham United topped off their Premier League season in some style. The Hammers comfortably beat Watford at Vicarage Road 4-1 with several players impressing for Manuel Pellegrini’s men.
One such player was Jack Wilshere.
Signed on a free transfer last summer from Arsenal the England international arrived with the hope of being a star player for the London club.
However, a familiar tale has transpired.
Wilshere has spent most of the season on the treatment table. The talented midfielder, who has a long history of ankle injury trouble, has managed to play just nine games for the club due to another ankle injury. As reported by The Sun he is on £100,000-a-week at West Ham, an amount that hardly looks worth paying so far.
He returned to action in April and has made cameo appearances since against Leicester City, Southampton and, yesterday, Watford.
But Wilshere looked fantastic when he came on. The talent has never been in doubt with the West Ham star. Indeed, it is incredible to think that he is still only 27-years-old. Plenty of West Ham fans are hopeful he can remain fit next term based on his recent cameos. Because if he does, then it could be like a brand new signing for West Ham next term.
