West Ham fans react on Twitter as Jack Wilshere is released

West Ham United midfield Jack Wilshere is to have his contract mutually terminated, according to Sky Sports, ending his two-year association with the club.

It’s proved a sorry tale for the former England international who has managed just 19 appearances in two seasons for the Hammers.

Many fans have taken to Twitter, however, to offer some sympathy to the player who has quite simply failed to live up to his promise.

Wilshere was on £100,000-a-week at the London Stadium and David Moyes has been keen to balance his books.

The ex-Arsenal man would have been out of contract next summer after being handed a three-year contract by former boss Manuel Pellegrini.

That decision now looks like a foolish one by the club with Wilshere playing less than 600 minutes of football in two years.

West Ham are planning a late move for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori and Wilshere’s wages could be used to fund that loan deal (Football London).

It seems unlikely that the 28-year-old will win another contract in England and his next move could be to go overseas.

Following the decision taken by West Ham over Wilshere, we looked at what supporters were saying about his departure from the club.
