West Ham are being linked with a move for Bordeaux attacker Josh Maja – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have given a negative response to the speculation.
His record of two goals in 17 appearances this season for French top-flight side Bordeaux is uninspiring.
According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crooks, West Ham could look at the 22-year-old this month as a possible target.
It is understood that the forward is viewed as a cheaper alternative to previous target Youssef En-Nesyri, who plays for Spanish side Sevilla.
Maja, who was born in London but plays for Nigeria internationally, spent his youth playing at a number of different clubs before eventually making a senior breakthrough at Sunderland.
He scored 17 goals in 49 games before switching Sunderland for Bordeaux back in 2019.
The centre-forward is someone with real strength and pace, but he’s yet to really find a prolific touch in France and is trying to nail down a starting position.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media are unimpressed by the Maja speculation, as they feel they should be setting their ambitions a little higher.
With Sebastien Haller sold earlier this month, it’s imperative that David Moyes’ side add another striker before the close of the January window, as they don’t want to be in the situation of having no senior forward if Michail Antonio gets injured.
