West Ham have reportedly seen their bid for Burnley defender James Tarkowski rejected – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have responded to claim their offer was far too low and unrealistic.

The Telegraph reports that Premier League outfit Burnley have turned down a £20million offer from West Ham for the 27-year-old, who is viewed as a “priority target” for manager David Moyes.

The report claims that the Hammers are likely to come back with a second improved bid for the powerhouse centre-back, but Burnley are going to be reluctant to let him go.

Tarkowski was a mainstay in the Burnley XI last season and didn’t miss a single minute of Premier League action, which is an impressive statistic for an outfield player.

He’s made two senior international appearances for England so far and it’s not a surprise that Burnley don’t want to lose one of their most influential players, who helps organise things at the back and leads by example.

West Ham do have several options in the heart of defence, but it looks like Moyes is looking for an upgrade in that position.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media are angry at the £20million offer for Tarkowski, as they feel it’s a “half-hearted” attempt to try sign a proven Premier League performer.
