West Ham fans react as Odsonne Edouard shines in Crystal Palace debut

Odsonne Edouard scored a sensational late brace after coming off the bench for Crystal Palace on Saturday – and West Ham fans are frustrated.

Edouard, 23, finally left Scotland and Celtic on deadline day – completing a move to Patrick Vieira’s Palace. He scored 86 goals in 179 games for Celtic.

His four-year spell at Celtic was excellent, winning three Premiership titles. But there are always doubts if players will mirror their form down south.

But with Tottenham down to 10 men and Palace winning through a Wilf Zaha penalty – Edouard was introduced. It took him 28 seconds to score.

Firstly, taking a touch before lashing a left-footed effort past Hugo Lloris – Edouard got a second with a close-range finish. A brace on his debut.

Edouard brace leaves West Ham fans frustrated on Twitter

While Palace brought in Edouard for £15million (Eurosport), West Ham failed to sign a striker. That is, despite no real cover for Michail Antonio.

The Hammers cashed in on Sebastian Haller back in January, offloading the Frenchman to Ajax. But a replacement is yet to arrive.

West Ham did spend towards the end of the window – bringing in Nikola Vlasic, Alex Kral and Kurt Zouma. Alphonse Areola has also joined.

But no striker has been bought and with Antonio receiving a red card on Saturday, West Ham lack a number nine. Edouard was a target.

Eurosport say West Ham were looking at Edouard towards the end of August. But he went to Palace, and Hammers fans are left frustrated.
