West Ham fans react as Michail Antonio posts injury update on Twitter
West Ham midfielder Michail Antonio took to Twitter yesterday to give the supporters an update on the injury he sustained in the 2-0 victory over Newport County last month.
Antonio tweeted: “Leg brace is off, time to smash recovery,” and it’s clear from the emojis and accompanying video that he is keen to attack his rehab hard.
His absence has left West Ham a little light in terms of backup options, especially up front where he has been pressed into action at times, but also out wide.
Many West Ham fans were excited about the positive update on Antonio’s fitness, although some were keen for him not to rush back in order to ensure he doesn’t suffer a setback.
It’s clear how much the supporters miss having Antonio in the squad – the Hammers may have more cultured players, but he provides pace, energy and resilience in abundance.
The Hammers will have to take on Manchester United without Antonio this weekend but he has moved a step closer to a return to the action.
Can't come soon enough! ⚒️
