West Ham fans react as Hammers defender is linked with new contract
West Ham have reportedly opened contract talks over a new deal for Vladimir Coufal – and some Hammers fans on Twitter are desperate for it to be sorted quickly.
According to Sky Sports, West Ham have started discussions with the defender’s representatives about a new improved contract.
Coufal, 28, has just finished off a truly remarkable first season at the London Stadium, helping West Ham finish sixth in the Premier League.
The right-back quickly made himself a real favourite with the club’s fanbase by applying an aggressive approach, which is combined with real skill on the ball and a high level of consistency each match.
He managed a superb return of seven Premier League assists, but his one-on-one defending was arguably even more impressive throughout the campaign.
There aren’t any wingers in the division that have got much change out of the Czech Republic international.
A selection of West Ham supporters on social media agree a new improved Vladimir Coufal contract is well deserved.
His passion on the pitch, along with Czech teammate Tomas Soucek, is a big reason why he’s a nailed-on starter in David Moyes’ XI.
Unfortunately, West Ham fans may be cheering against him in a one-off game this summer when England play Czech Republic at Euro 2020.
For £5million, he’s been one of the signings of the season in the Premier League.
The full-back position has been so reliable this year, with Coufal and Aaron Cresswell both going under the radar for their high levels.
