Some West Ham United fans have taken to Twitter to pay tribute to former midfielder Yossi Benayoun, who announced his retirement from football on Thursday.
Benayoun played for a host of clubs including the Hammers, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal, and most recently Beitar Jerusalem back in his hometown of Israel.

Benayoun had two spells with West Ham. He first joined the club in 2005 from Racing Santander, and stayed for a couple of seasons before being bought by Liverpool.
He then returned to the club on loan for the 2012/13 season, but played just six games for the club before returning to Chelsea after struggling with injury, meaning he racked up 78 appearances in total.

Benayoun was highly regarded amongst Irons fans for his creative talents, and that was reflected on social media as West Ham’s official Twitter acknowledged the news regarding their former star with a replay of one of his best goals for the club against Fulham.
