West Ham fans react as Declan Rice shines against Sheffield United

West Ham United fans have hailed Declan Rice for a superb performance against Sheffield United on Sunday.

The Hammers ran out 1-0 winners against the struggling Blades and have gone eighth in the table.

Lukasz Fabianski recorded a fourth clean sheet of the season, meaning he now joins Rui Patricio, Alex McCarthy, Emi Martinez, and Edouard Mendy at the top of the Golden Glove standings.

The game’s only goal came from Sebastien Haller, who rifled in an effort from the edge of the box.

The star, now an Ivory Coast international, has made a lot of the headlines as the match-winner, and one wonders if his goal will be enough to see him retain his place in the starting XI with Michail Antonio back in training after his injury.

There were some really good individual showings in the West Ham side, but arguably England international Rice was the standout player for the Hammers.

According to Statman Dave, he completed 58 of his 66 passes for a rate of 88%, made nine ball recoveries, created two chances and made two interceptions.

It was a highly influential showing from Rice, whose importance to West Ham is absolutely colossal.

The £60,000-a-week star (Daily Mail), still only 21, doesn’t always get the recognition, especially from rival fans, but there is no denying how huge he is for the Irons.

On social media, fans hailed Rice’s performance against the Blades:
